Respite care gives someone who cares for someone in need a break from their duties to perform their own daily tasks or to have a rest. Respite can come from friends and family or by the provision of formal services.

Formal services, like those provided by Accuro Home Care can be a for a few hours, a few days or longer. Our services can be either community access or in home.

  • Community Access - involves taking the person who is cared on outings. This provides a sense of independence for the person who needs care and also frees up time for the carer to perform there own tasks or just take a break.
  • In home - Involves coming to the home and taking over the care duties to allow the carer time out to do what ever is needed.

The services that we provide for respite can be over any length of time on any day for as long as needed. We can do weekends nights and public holidays.

The government can provide funding for respite care if you are eligible. To determine eligibility contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 who will refer you for a free assessment with RAS.

For emergency respite, call the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre on 1800 052 222 or 1800 059 059 outside business hours.
