The results of our research and assessments have determined our policy and procedures in relation COVID-19 and below is what we are asking our clients, NDIS participants and partnered organisations to assist us with:

If a client has any of the following illness symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue AND / OR

has travelled to any country outside of Australia AND /OR

Has been in extended and known close contact with someone who has been overseas to any country outside of Australia in the last 14 days.

Has been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19

We ask that you contact us immediately on 1300 554 983

We can assist in providing you with information on where to receive assessments, treatment and how to minimise the spread of any possible infection.

It is unfortunate but for the greater good of the community as a whole, some services and supports may have to be suspended to prevent the spread.

We are also ensuring that our community-based employees that may be at risk of infection and infecting others are not attending to vulnerable people, especially the elderly and those with pre-existing illnesses as those people are most at risk of developing complications. We have procedures and risk assessment processes, based on our research and advice from health organisations such as NSW Health, to mitigate the spread of this virus as much as humanly possible.

We have supplied to our Direct Support Workers extra personal protective equipment and hand sanitiser although this is in short supply at the moment. We have secured more and expect delivery in a few days. If a Direct Support Worker attends to a client that is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 and has been depleted of the correct PPE they will not be able to attend to the service. We will attempt to provide solutions such as of allocating a worker with PPE, this may require a time or even day change to the service, or contacting other organisations to assist. We will keep the client/organisation informed entirely.

We will ask that any client that exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19 or is suspected or confirmed to have the virus, to wear a face mask during services and if possible inform Accuro Homecare prior to our Direct Support Workers attending.

We will be monitoring the situation closely and regularly and provide updates where necessary.

Here are some things that you can do to help fight the spread of coronavirus:

  • Clean your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, or an alcohol-based hand rub
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with a tissue or a flexed elbow
  • Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms
  • Practice cough etiquette (keep away from other people, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and clean your hands.
  • Clean all surfaces (use antibacterial products if available) regularly.
  • Practice social distancing- i.e. stay at least 1.5 metres away from others where practical, avoid physical contact where practical such as hugging, shaking hands.
