After working in a nursing home, Melinda decided she wanted to work in homecare to assist people to remain in their own home for as long as possible. She has had many different careers in her life from dental nurse to resort front desk to managing group homes for people with intellectual disabilities but has remained in the care industry for 17 years now.
What Melinda loves about working with us is the variety of tasks and people. - "Clients are always surprising me with their life experiences. I like the active nature of support work."
Melinda is still keen to learn more about the industry and is happy to take whatever training is on offer.
Melinda's advice for anyone thinking about joining the industry -"A real person centred approach is required, you need to be 100% there for your client. Be a great listener, be OK with change like driving and want to make a positive impact on others."
